SITE SURVEY:
We travel from coast to coast providing site surveys to determine existing conditions and design constraints. Our trained and experience survey staff notes all visible and accessible architectural and electrical and mechanical conditions. A complete report is generated and an existing conditions drawing provided on CAD. A great deal of time is spent on site to gain as much needed information as possible. This is what sets us apart from the competition. There are far fewer questions arising during the design and construction stages when the Vinick team is hired to do the survey.

We often get calls from other architectural design firms asking that we perform the site survey for them. Our clients recommend us as well, realizing that the cost/benefit of a Vinick survey is a winning situation.

CODE REVIEW:
Code knowledge is power! As members of BOCA, SBCCI, NFPA, and NCSBCS we are dedicated to code development and interpretation. When in doubt, as members we can call for free technical support on issues relating to the codes of these organizations as well as the newer “I” family of codes. President Barbara Ebstein actively reviews “I” code proposed changes. She serves on the NFPA Fundamentals and Means of Egress Committees, which suggests and reviews changes to NFPA 101 as well as developing code language for the new NFPA 5000 building code.

All Principals are involved in one or the other of the code groups. Our staff is skilled in using code. For projects, we check the governing code and in most cases contact the local Authority Having Jurisdiction [AHJ] to work out problems. Our designs incorporate this information.

SPACE PLANNING:
The first step in the design process is to understand the clients program and goals. Based on this information, and our code review, we develop a conceptual plan showing flow, adjacency, security and safety, and any targeted other issues. Our designers are creative in their approach, incorporating focal accent areas, and articulation of the ceiling, wall, and floor planes.

DESIGNING AND DETAILING:
Architectural, interior, and graphic design services are offered to accomplish the excitement of the completed project. Once the conceptual plan is accepted, we enter the design development stage. Depending on the project, this stage could involve the inclusion in the team of other consulting design professionals.

The success of any project is in the level and attention to detail. Our designers know how to build the items we detail. Our resource library is extensive and includes construction materials, cabinet hardware, and other components.

FURNISHINGS AND FINISH SELECTION:
Our interiors library includes wall coverings, carpets, paints, laminates, stones, tiles, fabrics, and decorative materials. Furnishings catalogs are kept up to date, and the web is used to research additional specifications. All elements of the interior add to the achievement of a successful design. As such, adequate time is devoted to the selection process for these items.

LIGHTING AND ELECTRICAL DESIGN:
Our lighting designs utilize the latest and most efficient light sources to accomplish the project goals. Our use of ambient, focal, and accent lighting enhance the total experience. We are knowledgeable of indirect and direct lighting sources, and lighting control systems such as remote control, wired controllers, time clocks, and photoelectric cells.

ENGINEERING COORDINATION:
Our documents specify the type and location of lighting and electrical elements, we then work with consulting engineers to work out the wiring, loads, and HVAC requirements. We work closely with these consultants to ensure that the work performed accomplishes the goals and is consistent with the plans. Our consultants have many years experience working with us on our projects.

PROJECT MANAGEMENT:
Often we are called upon to assist clients in the coordination with municipalities, landlords, third parties, and contractors during the construction stage. Our trained staff works with a schedule to help achieve client’s goals of a well-built project delivered within budget and on time.
